Biography
Currently I am a graphic design freelancer in Las Vegas, NV, where I was born (1980) and raised by a remarkably normal family and parents. Despite my parents separating when I was 3 years old, they remain close friends. I never once felt like a yo-yo going back and forth from one house to the other. Heck, it made for one hell of a holiday season usually.
Since 1985, I have been staring into technologies wonderful advancements with the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System. I moved on to master the Apple IIe, and its software such as Number Munchers, and Oregon Trail. I was born and bred, a video game nerd. My love for video games had led me to enroll into a technical school where by the end of my first year (1995), I had developed a video game. Ironically, it only took one year for me to find myself more interested in the interface and design, more-so the actual programming involved.
I finished the Academy down the multimedia road, where I studied graphic design, web design, and 3-D development. I graduated with High Honors, and earned an Honors Diploma. I found myself more advanced than the coursed that the local colleges could offer, and found more interest in the non-credited courses available without the costly tuition. I was working as a web designer / graphic artist by 1999, when I created my first eCommerce website, for an online clothing/smoke shop.
After a few life-changing experiences, I found myself working with a Christian youth group in Northern California. I learned that I could best benefit the church with my talents with web and design. This was a great chance for me to apply my talents to the real world of business (Although non-profit).
I went on to freelance for a few years, refining my skills, and expanding my toolbox. I opened my second business, a print brokerage that offered free graphic design as an incentive. This is where I gained a majority of my real-world design experience, and it was the only job I had at most times. During slow seasons, I would pick up a quick restaurant gig, waiting tables, just to end up back in a full-time involvement with my printing business. I was not paid on a huge job by a local nightclub production company, and then right after, got stiffed on another job. Being out $2,000 and struggling to make it as a freelancer, I was forced to find another way to do what I love: Designing websites and print, without dealing with bad checks.
I went to work for an ad agency, Blue Moon Advertising, where I was quickly promoted from production artist to production director, then to art director, and finally web director. The Creative Director and I worked closely together, and I spent many lunch hours helping her with web development, and flash programming.
As entertainment, I often played Final Fantasy XI Online. It is a video game much like EverQuest and World of Warcraft. In the game, I met (without looking) a girl from Wisconsin, Margaret, and we instantly became fond of each other. We met in Wisconsin, and immediately planned her a vacation to Las Vegas. She came for Christmas, and left with an engagement ring. Shortly after, she moved 1,700 miles to Las Vegas, where we are engaged for marriage on 7-7-07.
Currently I am paving the way towards financial success for Margaret, my 2 large dogs, and myself. I am always looking for new clients in Las Vegas, as well as California where we plan to move after Margaret finishes her education.
